Family Friendly wineries in the Swan Valley WA (And by family friendly, I mean kid friendly with wine!)
One of my favourite things to do is try out local venues, and in this case (As I'm so lucky to live on the edge of the Swan Valley), it's Wineries in the Swan Valley Perth! I have posted 5 of my favourites here (And yes.. there are more!), which include: Oakover Grounds, The Laughin' Barrel Winery, The Henley Brook, Mandoon Estate, and Penny Garden. All wineries which emphasis on family entertainment, great food, and great wine!
The moment we stepped into Oakover grounds in the Swan Valley, we were immediately greeted by one of the staff, who gave us a tour of the premises, where to order food and drinks, and what facilities they had to offer. And wow, does this venue offer. Not only is the inside decor so inviting and unique, it carries through out, with the restaurant inside and outside undercover area. But for me, that wasn't even the best part (Though I must say, I can't wait to catch up for wine and dinner with just my girlfriends).. it was what they were offering the kids! Picnic Casual style meals are served in the outside kitchen, with outdoor garden games, paddle boats, totem tennis and soccer, plenty of run around area, and even a nature play treasure hunt. If you are looking for a relaxed atmosphere with plenty for the kids to do, this one is for you (We could of literally spent all day there) Head to their facebook here: OAKOVER GROUNDS
The Laughin' Barrel Restaurant and Winery offers a gated playground... seriously, do I need to say more? The playground is well maintained with equipment for children of all ages, and the outdoor seating tables over look the playground and vinyards, so if your child is running through the vines, or playing in the gated area, you can keep an eye on them. Not to mention that the staff have always been so friendly and welcoming, with a good kids menu in addition to the rest of the menu, and a great selection of wines! Head to the facebook page to keep up to date with events and their opening hours: The Laughin' Barrel Restaurant and Winery.
There is just no explaining the vibe you get when you walk onto the grounds of The Henley Brook. It's simply just amazing. With picnic rugs and mini picnic tables (floor based) sprawled across the open grass area, and just an arms reach of the huge space for your kids to run around and kick a ball, climb or swing on a tyer, you could really extend a casual drink to an all day stay! There is live music, great selection of food and beverages, with a buzzing bar and restaurant vibe inside, which is displayed over the whole venue. Head to their FB for special events and opening hours: The Hen
If you haven't been to Mandoon Estate in the Swan Valley, make sure you put it on your to do list - because, as mentioned with other wineries above, this one has the best of both worlds with a gated playground, plenty of space outside for the kids to run around, and a casual "festival" style vibe for the whole family. It does get packed on the weekends, and it's not hard to see why! There's picnic tables, picnic rugs to borrow, live music, outdoor kitchen and bar, and it really ticks all the boxes for a relaxed day out with fun and entertainment for everyone! Head to their FB for events and opening times: Mandoon Estate.
Penny Garden Restaurant on West Swan Road has certainly come along way since we first started going. Situated next to Yahava Coffee, the venue has a great menu (cocktails now... not that I didn't appreciate their large selection of wines!), with picnic tables outside. During the summer days (I always call to check before heading there with my little man to avoid disappointment!) they have a bouncy castle for the kids! Not that they can't amuse themselves with the large open space which they can run around and play! Also they have market stalls there on occasions, so you can head to their FB to find out when, plus their opening hours: Penny's Garden.
Can you think of more! Feel free to email or comment - I love discovering new locations where we can take the kids on a family day, or with my girlfriends... and I'm guessing you have figured the theme here - Wine + Kids Play = Great Place!
